Fermi’s Paradox fuses jazz concepts and a forward-thinking attitude to create emotionally dynamic rock music that breaks down the human condition highlighting our existence as a collective human experience. Formed in Frederick, Maryland in 2014 by guitarist/lead singer Diego Retana and drummer Colin Shreeves, Fermi’s Paradox began as an experiment in combining jazz concepts with rock music. Along the way, Dan Rynders joined the fold on bass in mid 2014 followed by Alex Taylor on guitar/ backing vocals/electronics in late 2015.

Fermi’s Paradox has been able to make a name for itself with its live performances that exhibit an emotionally rich range of intimate tales of struggle to powerful instrumentals. Due to the kaleidoscopic character of the band, many have compared the group to the Dismemberment Plan, Rush, and Santana among others. In mid 2016, Fermi’s Paradox released their self-titled EP. The release was met with praise from fans including Jim McFalls, jazz educator at Towson University and former member of the Jazz Ambassadors, who called the release “Killin’ Stuff! “ The band is currently focusing on creating new music and continuing to bring their skill to the live stage.
